The 8th Practitioners' Conference Hydropower, Turbines & Systems took place at the Graz University of Technology from 12th to 13th September. Once again it provided a remarkable platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience and brought over 140 renowned experts from the hydropower industry to Graz. In addition, the programme was broadcast live online.

A central focus of the conference was on the sustainable development of hydropower projects. The discussions at the conference also emphasised the challenges associated with the operation of hydropower plants, technical details were discussed in depth. The open word is our special concern and was cultivated extensively.

Our thanks go to our first-class speakers from business and research. Among them were renowned manufacturers, planners and operators - including TIWAG Tiroler Wasserkraft AG, illwerke vkw, VERBUND, Voith Hydro, AXPO Power, Andritz Hydro, Kochendörfer Wasserkraftanlagen Turbinen-Maschinenbau, Hülskens Sediments and many more. We would also like to thank our participants who made this event possible by coming.

Overall, the eighth edition of the Hydropower Practitioners’ Conference was an insightful and inspiring event. It has shown that the hydropower sector offers sustainable solutions to energy needs. The conference not only shared knowledge and ideas, but also raised awareness of the importance of hydropower as a renewable energy source. Despite the challenges, we can look to the future with confidence, where hydropower will play an even more important role in the global energy transition.
